Champlain Valley Exposition
Who doesn’t love fair food? Home of the ten-day Champlain Valley Fair in the late summer, the Champlain Valley Exposition sees over 120,000 attendees annually and hosts over 100 special events each year. With a grandstand for concerts, an 81,000 square foot air-conditioned exhibit space, and full hookups for camping, the expo has it all. The Champlain Valley Exposition also hosts large concerts, sporting events, equestrian competitions, the Yankee Sportsman Classic, charity events, ski and snowboard sales and more - most recently, a drive-in experience! Check out the events calendar for upcoming activities!
The Barns at Lang Farm, a popular spring and summer Vermont wedding venue, also hosts a variety of meetings and special events. In the warmer months, The Links 18-hole private golf course is open for all abilities with a great view of the Green Mountains. In the fall, Lang Farm offers hay wagon rides, pumpkin picking, farm animals and a playground area. Year round, the farm’s on-site bakery and café, Sweet Alchemy, Airbnb listings, and antique shop are also open.
Maple Street Park and Pool
The Maple Street Park, located in the heart of Essex Junction, is bustling with activity in the warmer Vermont months. There’s plenty to explore in the 38 acres of park land! Make a splash in the two swimming pools, relax under one of the four pavilions, grab a snack at the concession stand, and get active on the baseball and soccer fields, tennis and basketball courts, and playground areas. If those aren’t enough, try the nature trails, skate park or bike park!
Essex Overlook Park and Woodside Natural Area
Accessible from Route 15, the park is a great place to spread out a picnic or take a walk! The five-acre Essex Overlook park and Woodside Natural Area wraps around the Winooski River. From the gate, it’s a short walk to the river using the Woodside Loop. At the river, you’ll find picnic tables, canoe access, and the Fern Loop. Keep an eye out for the beaver dam, wetlands and other signs of wildlife! Looking for a longer hike? Simply take the marked trail in between Overlook Park and the Woodside trail access.
