The performance venue staple, Higher Ground, is also found on Williston Road. Year round, this popular venue hosts thousands of artists from all walks of music. Popular artists include Grace Potter, The Avett Brothers, Houndmouth and so many more. Higher Ground, in partnership with the Champlain Valley Exposition, started a new drive-in event series during COVID-19. Additionally, join Higher Ground and Grace Potter for the annual Grand Point North Music Festival!


Ben & Jerry's Famous Ice Cream

South Burlington is home to the corporate offices and headquarters of the famous Ben & Jerry’s ice cream! The company, founded in 1978 by Ben Cohen and Jerry Greenfield, hosts their factory in Waterbury, VT, just 30 minutes from South Burlington. Stop by their store on Church Street in Burlington for a taste of your favorite scoop!


A Whale of a Tail

Steps from the Ben and Jerry headquarters, in Technology Park, is the landmark Whales Tails sculpture. Seen by thousands every day from Interstate I-89, this sculpture is actually named “Reverence” and was created in 1989 by artist Jim Sardonis. Scenic Vermont Views

Overlook park in South Burlington, Vermont boasts scenic views of Lake Champlain and the Adirondack Mountains

South Burlington has so many fun parks and recreational areas to explore! Two popular options are Red Rocks Park and Overlook Park. “Red Rocks,” as it’s known by locals, is best known for cliff jumping and scenic views. The park also has 2.5 miles of pedestrian trails, fantastic spots for swimming on its 700 feet of water front, having a picnic, and more. Overlook park is found off of Spear Street and is best known for its beautiful views of Lake Champlain and the Adirondack Mountains.

DID YOU KNOW: Though owned by the city of Burlington, the Burlington International Airport is actually located in South Burlington. This airport is also home to the Burlington Air National Guard Base and the 158th Fighter Wing of the Vermont Air National Guard.

Fall Activities 

Is there anything better than fall in Vermont? From the crisp air to the magnificent foliage views, there’s something for everyone to love & appreciate about autumn in Vermont. Here are a few of our favorite activities to enjoy this beautiful season:

Corn Maze:

Corn Mazes are a great family activity! Enjoy the adventure & challenge of the puzzle while taking in some crisp fall air.

The Great Vermont Corn Maze in Danville in the largest Maze in New England! The “Big Maze” can take two+ hours to complete & can be a great adventure. It’s recommended for older children & active adults. They have updated their procedures this year to help keep themselves & their patrons safe, it is now required that you make reservations in advance. They only take a limited amount of reservations per day. For more information:

Sam Mazza’s Corn Maze in Colchester is great for all ages. There are two separate Mazes with-in the design, a one-mile maze & a three-mile maze. Don’t forget to visit the farm market & petting zoo while you’re there! For more information:

Apple Picking:

Apple picking is a fall favorite in Vermont. Many orchards are updating their systems to help maintain social distancing procedures to keep their staff & patrons safe. 

Shelburne Orchard's in Shelburne has adjusted it's procedures to pre-paid containers for picking & enforcing masks & social distancing. For more information:

Allenholm Orchard in South Hero makes a great day trip! They have also updated their guidelines to keep their staff & customers safe. Enjoy apple picking, visit their farm stand & animals for a fun family day!

Pumpkin Patch

The Islands

With so many unique, quintessential Vermont attractions along with stunning lake views visiting the Islands makes a great day trip for anyone! If you choose to visit Grand Isle, North Hero, or South Hero this summer, which I recommend, there are countless activities you can still enjoy while following proper social distancing guidelines.  

Hero’s Welcome

Located in North Hero, this iconic old General Store has everything you could want between the gift shop, deli & the rentals. During the summer they offer rentals on Kayaks, Canoes, Bikes, Paddle Boats & more. Grab a sandwich from their deli & you are ready to enjoy a day on the lake!

Parks & Beaches

What better social distancing activity in the summer than going to the beach? The islands have some amazing beaches. Whether you are looking for a day trip to the beach or to camp for the weekend at Grand Isle State Park – they have something for everyone with views that won’t disappoint!

Allenholm Farm

Allenholm Farm in South Hero is great to visit all year long! Their Maple Creemees & Farm Store with delicious baked goods are always worth a stop. They also provide bike rentals which is a great way to explore the islands. They even provide guided routes! Fall will be here before we know it & you’ll want to enjoy those nice warm fall days before winter comes. Allenholm offers apple picking in the fall which along with their petting zoo makes a great fall family outing.

Outdoor Eateries

The Islands have some great outdoor eateries to enjoy a good meal while social distancing. A family favorite is Seb’s Snack Bar in South Hero.  With outdoor order windows & following the 6ft guidelines, Seb’s is a great option for a meal while up in the islands. Whether its enjoying an ice cream, exploring their unique gift shop or Bakery  – Seb’s makes for a great stop!
