Family Friendly Halloween Events in Your Vermont Community!

Looking for some family fun in preparation for the Halloween weekend to come? Read below about the spooky and fun Halloween events happening in your community this week!

Wednesday Events – 10/28

Where: Church Street Marketplace

When: 4:00-6:30 PM

What: Trick-or-Treat Street - Bring the family to enjoy Halloween on the Church Street Marketplace for Trick-or-Treat Street. Come in costume for 8 outdoor trick-or-treating stations with candy and healthy snacks provided by City Market, face painting, photo shoot for kids with local mascots, fire truck demo from the Burlington Vermont Fire Department, Pumpkin Painting at Burlington Paint and Sip studio, spin art at Ben & Jerry’s and lots more fun offered for the whole family!

Ages: 0 and Up

Cost: FREE


Where: Essex and Essex Junction

When: 5:00-6:30 PM

What: Essex Community Halloween Celebration - Open to residents of Essex and Essex junction sponsored by Essex and Essex Jct Parks and Rec – come in costume and enjoy treats, games, prizes, entertainment and a giant spooky maze!

Ages: 0 - 10

Cost: FREE


Where: Old Lantern in Charlotte

When: 5:00-8:30 PM (Wednesday and Thursday)

What: Mahana Magic Kids Haunted House – bring your family and friends in costume for this ghoulish haunted house with proceeds supporting the mission of the Mahana Magic Foundation which supports children whose parent or guardian is dealing with a cancer diagnosis. Enjoy food and surprises for all!

Ages: 0 and Up

Cost: $5 Donation


Thursday Events – 10/29


Where: South Burlington Community Library

When: 10:00-11:15 AM

What: Boo to You! A Not So Scary Story Time - Wear your costume and join Mr. Monkey at the South Burlington Library for story time, games and treats!

Ages: 0 - 3

Cost: FREE


Where: Jericho Elementary School

When: 6:00-7:30 PM

What: Y Halloween Kids Night Out – Join Jericho Elementary School for a creepy crawly fun-filled Halloween Party including crafts & games, a costume contest, and a dance party – dinner will be provided along with some tricks and treats!

Ages: 5 - 12

Cost: $10/child


Friday Events – 10/30


Where: Burlington Main Street Station

When: 10am (Saturday) 12pm, 2pm & 4 pm (Friday & Saturday)

What: Halloween Kids Express Train Rides – All aboard! Enjoy hallows-eve aboard the Halloween Kids Express at the Burlington waterfront, enjoy the 60-minute train ride with locally sourced food & drinks for sale, come early and enjoy the pre-boarding party which includes music, photo booth, and much more! Kids express rides depart 12 pm, 2 pm and 4pm on Friday and Saturday (an extra 10 am train ride scheduled for Saturday)

Where: Brownell Library in Essex

When: 3:15-4:15 PM

What: Halloween Face Painting – Get ready for trick or treating by having your face painted by teen volunteers that will match the design to your costume!

Ages: 3 – 14+

Cost: FREE


Where: Milton Public Library

When: 3:30 – 5:00 PM

What: Halloween Party – come dressed in costume for games, crafts, refreshments and plenty of Halloween Fun! Please sign up in advance by calling 893-4644

Ages: 4-10

Cost: FREE


Where: Smugglers Notch Resort

When: 4:30 – 9:00 PM

What: Haunted Halloween Village – bring your family and enjoy spooky thrills and fun put together by Smugglers Notch Resort Staff as well as staff and students from Lamoille Union High School – the Haunted Village with haunted hay rides, a trick or treat trail, pumpkin painting, face painting and more! Including a dance party and costume contest. The Smugglers Notch Fun Zone will also be open which includes a giant inflatable slide, obstacle course, mini golf course and arcade games.

Ages: 0-14+

Cost: $10 per adult $5 per child 6-18


Where: UMall in South Burlington

When: 4:30 – 7:00 PM

What: Night Before Halloween Family Party – come dressed in your best costume and enjoy the following family activities:

-          3:30PM-7:00PM    Face Painting by Vermont Face and Body - JCPenney Court

-          4:30PM-7:00PM:   Bounce House provided by Bounce Around VT - Bon-Ton Court

-          4:30PM - 5:00PM:   Halloween Bingo - Center Court

-          4:30PM - 6:00PM:   Science with Miss Vermont - Kohl's Court

-          5:00PM - 5:45PM:   Not So Scary Halloween Show with Joey the Clown - Center Court

-          5:00PM - 7:00PM:   98.9 WOKO Live Remote

-          5:45PM - 6:00PM:   Spooky Story Time with South Burlington Community Library – Center Court

-          6:00PM - 7:00PM:   Trick or Treat from store to store

Where: O’Brien Community Center in Winooski

When: 5:00 – 7:00 PM

What: Winooski Halloween Party - come celebrate and bring the whole family to this event that will feature local organizations, food and other fun giveaways from local businesses! Also enjoy face painting, music, games and a magician!

Ages: 0 and Up

Cost: FREE

Where: Spare Time Colchester

When: 5:30 – 8:30 PM

What: Haunted Laser Tag Party – Come in costume for a game of spooky laser tag as well as receive a $5 game zone card, where you can visit all the different trick or treating stations. **Make sure your costume is laser tag friendly and sneakers are required** Please call to RSVP for this event 655-2720

Where: Burnham (Colchester) Library

When: 6:00 – 7:00 PM

What: Halloween Party/Shadow Puppet Show – enjoy a special shadow puppet performance of Sleepy Hollow performed by the PuppeTree’s – come in costume and join in the parade after the show! Very family friendly, refreshments will be provided.

Where: Anderson Field/Recreation Building in Waterbury

When: 6:00 – 7:30 PM

What: Campfire Ghost Stories - gather around the campfire for roasting marshmallows and listening to ghost stories! Bring your own family friendly ghost story to share!

Ages: 0 and Up

Cost: Non-Perishable Food Donation Suggested


Where: Williston Central School

When: 6:00 – 8:00 PM

What: Williston Community Pumpkin Carving Night -  bring your own pumpkin to this awesome community event, no registration is required, enjoy refreshments and goodie bags for the kids all while carving your very own masterpiece!

Ages: 0 and Up

Where: Champlain Valley Expo in Essex Jct

When: 7:00 – 10:00 PM

What: Spookyville Vermont – attend this family friendly Halloween walk through of the Champlain Valley Expo. Explore Spookyville Manor and Spookyville Village which will be filled with hundreds of jack-o-lanterns to light the way. Enjoy the be-witching family-friendly atmosphere!
